JAMES K. POLK
(1795 - 1849) Eleventh President of the United States who led the country during the Mexican-American War, and secured the territories of Oregon and Washington. Partly-printed D.S. "James K. Polk" as president, 1p. 4to., Washington, July 24, 1846, an order that the Seal of the United States be affixed to the envelope of a letter "addressed to her Britannic Majesty [Queen Victoria]". Fine condition.
