(1874 - 1964) 34th President of the United States whose attempts to reverse the course of the Great Depression led to his defeat at the polls by Franklin D. Roosevelt. T.L.S. as President on White House letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, May 25, 1931 to Samuel S. Colt in New Jersey. In part: "...Your kind telegram of Saturday is not only most gratifying but it brings real encouragement, I thank you indeed for it..." Very good.
