Two sets of Civil War-date sheet music, includes: "Dead on the Battle Field", 5pp. folio, ca. 1862, issued to commemorate fallen Union soldiers, reading in part: "Dead on the battle field! The bravest of the brave...The hero's thrilling voice, no more shall bid the traitor fear, the loyal heart rejoice, In the cold embrace of death, The gallant soldier sleeps..." Very good. WITH: "Brave Men, Behold Your Fallen Chief", 7pp. folio, ca. 1862, published in tribute of Elmer E. Ellsworth (1837 � 1861), the first Union officer to die in the American Civil War. In part: "Ellsworth, Ellsworth, Dear departed, brave and true�Enfold him in the stripes and stars. He will not dim the brightest beam. His blood will tinge to crimson bars, Add richer lustre to its gleam..." Disbound, else very good.
