(USS PUEBLO) LLOYD M. BUCHER
(1927-2004) Commander of the U.S. Navy spy ship USS PUEBLO, which was captured by North Korean naval forces in 1968. Bucher and the rest of the ship's crew were held captive and subjected to interrogation and torture for eleven months. His signed memoir: ""Bucher: My Story"" (New York: Doubleday and Company), 1970. 435pp. 8vo. Bucher signs next to the full-title page, adding a dedication with the inscription: "May Your Seas Always Be Calm...CDR. USN ret... C.O. USS PUEBLO...3/27/90". Fine, with dust jacket. Sold with a slip of paper bearing Bucher's typed address, which Bucher has initialed and added: "All Best".
