B17 "FLYING FORTRESS" DISPLAY WITH WRECKED FRAGMENTS
Wooden display, 19.5 x 14.75 in., featuring 17 assorted, glued-on fragments of a downed "B17" Flying Fortress, serial number "43-38946". Also affixed to the wood backing is two photographs of the crashed plane, a group photograph of her crew, and an explanatory placard, reading in part: "This aircraft from the 91st Bomb Group, took off from its base at Bassingbourn, Cambs on 24th December 1944...encountered thick fog and crashed on a hill at Foxton, Cambs. The aircraft was coded DF-H..." Some glue still visible, else very good.
