CHINA-BURMA-INDIA DOCUMENT, FLAG, AND RELIC GROUPING OF WARRANT OFFICER JOHN D. SECULA

Great archive and relic grouping belonging to Technical Sergeant JOHN D. SECULA (1920-1987), a Warrant Officer with the Army Air Force in the China-Burma-India theater. Later, Secula acted as an administrative officer in the Office of the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare until his retirement in 1975. Included in this large grouping is Secula's archive of approx. 150-200 military documents, including promotion documents, health reports, military orders, qualifications forms, personnel records, custom declarations, separation records, and many more routine documents from the breadth of his military career. Also included is a silk "bring-back" Japanese national flag, 36.5 x 25.5 in., accompanied by a document of provenance -- a "Certificate of Retention and Customs Declaration" signed by Secula and his commanding officer on Oct. 1945, authorizing Secula to return home with a "Japanese flag" within his B-4 bag. The flag itself bears slight spots of staining throughout, especially around the red hinomaru symbol, else fine condition. The grouping also includes various medals and medal bars, including his Good Conduct medal; American Defense Ribbon; American Campaign Medal; the World War II Victory Ribbon; AsiaticPacific Campaign Medal with service ribbon and two battle stars. Very good to fine.
