ALLACH SS ''1939 PARTEITAG VASE''

Rare white porcelain vase by Allach, 3.5 x 5 in. diameter, their '1939 Parteitag Vase', bearing the inscription 'Biwakabend der SS Reichsparteitag Nurnberg 1939' ('Bivouac Evening of the SS Reich Party Day Nuremberg 1939') around the rim in raised gothic letters. The base bears the stylized 'SS' runes utilized by Allach as a manufacturer's mark, as well as the company name. Shows negligible soiling within, else fine, with no chips or other damage whatsoever. These vases were intended to be presented to various SS luminaries during the 1939 Reich Party Day rally in Nuremberg. However, the rally was cancelled due to the onset of World War II, and the vases were never distributed to their intended recipients. The porcelain factory Porzellan Manufaktur Allach was established as a private concern in 1935. In 1936 the factory was acquired by Heinrich Himmler to produce works of art that would represent, in Himmler's eyes, true Germanic culture. Production was based at Allach, the largest subcamp of Dachau, and it used slave labor in the production of these pieces.
