Russian Commemorative Medallion Plaque issued by The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg Russia in memory of the Napoleon War. After the original by Artist F. Tolstoy (1783-1873) in memory of the Napoleon War, 1820. The master depicted the scene of retreat of the French Army behind the river Nieman in an allegoric way. A figure of a bare elder, leaning his elbows on an urn with water, symbolizes the river Nieman. Calmness of figure contrasts with a panic state of retreating Napoleon.
