Frontier Skinning Knife & Sharpening Steel c 1800-
For your consideration is this Frontier skinning knife and sharpening steel circa Indian wars era 1800's. The knife shows a convex blade with a nice patina adorning the blade the knife sports a oak handle and shows brass rivets with patina confirming how old this blade is. The sharpening steel shows an oak handle with silver pewter inlaid into it; the teeth on the sharpening steel still bites however is worn down with age and use. This knife would have been an essential in surviving on the frontier of an adolescent America. The condition of this this knife and sharpener is good the knife shows an heavy patina to the blade and adorning the wooden handle and the brass rivets. The measurements of this knife are 15 1/4" x 2" and the blade measures 10"; the sharpener steel measures 20" x 1 3/4".
