Frank Lundahl was a Swedish-American painter and muralist born in Rock Island, Illinois, who spent his life in the Quad Cities. He first trained with Swedish-born painter Lars Axel Blombergson and later studied at the institution that became the Art Institute of Chicago. He earned his living primarily as a decorative and mural painter, receiving commissions for churches, theaters, libraries and other public interiors throughout the Quad Cities and in Chicago. He also procured easel canvases of rural subjects and everyday life in the Mississippi valley region, like the present work. Canvas measures 30 x 40 with a framed size of 39 x 48.5 inches.
