Born in New Orleans, Rolland Golden became a distinctive chronicler of the American South, painting its rural roads, weathered buildings, Mississippi Delta landscapes and monuments of New Orleans over a career spanning six decades. After the Korean war, he returned to New Orleans and studied under the Southern Regionalist John McCrady at the John McCrady Art School in the French Quarter, graduating in 1957.
