Leonard Howard Reedy, although born and trained in Chicago-studying at the Chicago Art Institute and Academy of Fine Arts- reportedly worked as a ranch hand and lived in mining and timber camps, traveling extensively through the Plains, mountains and Southwest. It is reported that he also spent time traveling with Native Americans. It's also been said that during his lifetime a lot of Chicago restaurants displayed his works because he often sough to trade artwork for meals.
