MAEDA CHIKUBOSAI I BAMBOO AND RATTAN FLOWER BASKET - The flower arrangement basket woven in openwork diagonal plaiting displays a rounded, bulbous form that widens at the shoulder and narrows towards the rim where a natural, gnarled bamboo stem with butterfly knots forms the high arching handle which is securely attached to the rim with intricate cordage and knotting. Included is a fitted cylindrical bamboo insert and later tomobako. Measures 13 x 10.5 inches in diameter.
