CHIKUUNSAI FLOWER BASKET W/ CARVED HANDLE, ADAIR ESTATE - The dark-lacquered Japanese bamboo flower arranging basket with unusual handle is woven in a crisp openwork plaiting is of tapered squarish form with an open-grid base and a an upper rim is defined by a heavy, solid bamboo collar with cresting corner peaks bound securely by fine rattan wrapping. The unusual handle is a bent bamboo strip fashioned from a thick, solid piece of bamboo carved flat with grooved channel outlines splitting into an ornate, bifurcated wishbone configuration while the top of the arch features a carved geometric central node.
