JAPANESE PEONY BASKET WITH TOMOBAKO, ADAIR ESTATE - The swelling four-sided bamboo basket of swelling square body tapers sharply at the shoulder before expanding into a widely flared, ring-coiled funnel mouth. The entirety is woven in an intricate diagonal twill-mesh accented each side with raised and braided bamboo tassels and corner ribs - all raised on an an elevated, four-sided arched bamboo base. The piece is finished in a uniform, deep molasses-brown. A dark interior bamboo cylinder liner and a period fitted wooden tomobako with inscription are included. Measures 13 x 10.75 x 10.75 inches.
