After nearly 200 years of near total isolation, Japan opened the harbor at Yokohoma to trade with the rest of the world, creating a boom in commerce (note the masted ships and foreign flags through the picture window). A Japanese fascination with foreigners resulted. Each sight size measures 14 x 9.25 with a framed size of 19.75 x 36.75 inches.
