RUSTIC BAMBOO BASKET SIGNED CHIKUBOSAI I , ADAIR ESTATE - The rustic openwork basket of square form is constructed of split-bamboo stays arranged in an open square grid tapering gracefully from a square base to a rounded, heavy rope-twisted rim with vertical side stays extend down the outer walls from the upper mouth where a multi-strand overhead arch handle decorated along the apex with a series of raised intricately woven spiral rattan butterfly knots. The vessel is finished in a rich, uniform deep molasses-colored patina. The inside lid of the fitted storage box is inscribed and with red seal. The original bamboo tube is present.
