A JAPANESE PAULOWNIA WOOD SLIDING DOOR MERCHANT'S CHEST - The unusual Edo period chest with sliding doors and iron mounts opens to ten drawers, five behind each door, four of which have elaborate iron escutcheons and lock openings. The cabinet is constructed of solid paulownia wood and mounted with iron handles each side. Measures 26.5 x 23.5 x 18.5 inches.
