CHIKUBOSAI I (1872-1950) IKEBANA BASKET, ADAIR ESTATE - The bulbous ''Treasure Bag'' flower arranging basket with dark-lacquered patina is constructed in an openwork lattice weaving with vertical side buttresses, below the distinctive handle formed from natural gnarled branch handle anchored to the thick, densely woven collar rim with complex rattan knotting and decorative trailing terminals. The original fitted bamboo liner and inscribed storage box are present. Measures 18 x 11 inches in diameter.
