TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II BAMBOO FLOWER BASKET, ADAIR ESTATE - The fine and highly technical Japanese bamboo flower basket is woven in fine, delicate, lace-like thousand-point plaiting style with a translucent lace-like quality below the rim wrapped tightly and much less delicately in an incredibly precise split bamboo wrap. The unusual handle with precisely tied wrap, instead of being bent bamboo strips is a carved piece of wood or heavy bamboo that splits in a symmetrical fork or wishbone where it joins the rim. The basket is complete with a patinated copper liner and inscribed tomobako. Measures 17.5 x 16.5 inches in diameter.
