A FINE LARGE 19C. CHINESE DRAGON-DECORATED FISH BOWL - The Qing dynasty porcelain fish bowl is heavily potted with deep rounded sides rising to a lipped rim, the exterior vividly decorated in iron-red with five animated five-clawed dragons in pursuit amid flames and underglaze cobalt-blue cloud scrolls above a band of cresting waves, the dragons' eyes are picked out in underglaze blue, the base bears a six-character Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue. Provenance: The John Adair Estate, purchased at Kaminski Auctions, June 1-2 2019 Asian & Estates Auction, where the bowl realized $56,250 with buyer's premium. There, the description read: The sturdily potted bowl with deep sides gently curving up to the lipped rim, the exterior painted in underglaze-red with five ferocious five-clawed dragons in various positions, all amidst flames and under-glaze cobalt-blue clouds and breaking waves, the dragon's eyes in underglaze-blue.
