UNUSUAL QASHQAI RUG, SOUTH WEST PERSIA, CIRCA 1900 - The polychrome field with fifteen rows of rectangular tiles each enclosing a cruciform medallion, within a blue continuous flower head border, ivory guard borders, horizontal dice ends. The paneled field design is very unusual for a Qashqai rug, the style of which is more likely seen in artifacts such as khorjins (bags). A similar design is seen in a 19th century Qashqai khorjin, see HALI, Issue 209, 2021., 'Nomadic Visions' p.52, pl. 4. Measures 84 x 47 inches; 7ft. x 3ft.11in; 214 x 120cm.
