A FINE YAZD CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA, EARLY 20TH C - The abrashed red field with a central floral star surrounded by a ring of curvilinear vines issuing palmettes and flower heads with botehs and pendants, supported by meandering curvilinear vines issuing palmettes, flower heads and raceme of blossom, between a mirrored inscription, reading; 'Kharcha-e-Zaman', meaning; The cost of time., within a blue border enclosing a variety of polychrome flower heads linked by meandering curvilinear vines, an unusual outer floral surround, restorers webbing to the reverse ends, reading; 'JEHERRIAN BROTHERS - RUGS OF QUALITY . Woven with exceptional fine weave and soft lustrous wool. The pattern details are finely defined almost as if drawn with a fine pen. Such detail is seldom seen in carpets of this type. It is also rare to see inscriptions of this nature applied to the field, and in mirrored form. This carpet was probably supplied by 'Jerrehian Brothers', a well known respected dealership and restoration specialists established in Philadelphia, founded in 1904. Condition Fine weave, soft lustrous close cropped pile, top end 1/3rd with band of wear with scattered foundation bars visible , ends good, no knot losses no fringes extant, though secured by webbing on the reverse. Sides good, intact and with no issues.
