Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) Cordova Plaza 1943 The color woodblock print, found in outstanding condition with intense colors, was published exclusively for the members of The Woodcut Society in an edition of 200 prints. The work is signed by the artist in pencil lower right and titled lower left. The original Woodcut Society portfolio is included. The Woodcut Society was a Kansas City-based fine-print subscription club founded in 1932 by Kansas City grain merchant Alfred Fowler. The society commissioned and distributed original relief prints for its member collectors. Many of the prints came in a letterpress-printed folder from Torch Press of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, similar to the present example. Image measures 7.75 x 7.75, sheet is 13.25 x 10.75inches.
