A KNOX 'CYMRIC' SILVER & ENAMEL CLOCK FOR LIBERTY & CO - The 'Cymric' sterling silver clock designed by Archibald Knox is stamped with the lion passant for sterling silver, the maker's mark of L &Co for Liberty and Co., the Birmingham anchor, and the date mark for 1904. The base is stamped with the model number 5268. The case is inlaid with an unusual enameled rectangular Arts and Crafts influence plaque in its waist. The upper portion is centered by a circular, mottled aquamarine enamel dial with silvered Roman numerals around the chapter ring. The sterling silver case is designed in elements of various stylistic movements, including Secessionist influences, and houses the original high quality brass works stamped FRENCH MOVEMENT. The main spring holds good tension and thus appears to be intact, At the time of inspection, the movement would operate briefly. The hour hand is a crude, amateur replacement. The case has been left unpolished as shown. No aspect of the running condition of timepieces can be guaranteed. Provenance Recently discovered in the home of a Missouri antiques collector.
