Joe (Joseph John) Jones (Missouri, 1909-1963) Jersey from the Hudson Mid 20th Century This unsigned watercolor from the collection of Jim and Virginia Moffett was exhibited in the 2017-2018 exhibition A Restless Regionalist: The Art of Joe Jones Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art St. Joseph, Missouri June 9 - September 10, 2017 and Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery Lindsborg, Kansas November 5, 2017 - January 21, 2018. Joe Joseph John Jones was a prolific painter, lithographer and WPA muralist. His strong left leaning sensibilities motivated his focus on the American Scene and Social Realism in his paintings. The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the National Gallery of Art, the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art all hold paintings by Joe Jones in their collections.
