He studied at the Broadmoor Art Academy (now the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center) and taught at the Kansas City Art Institute during the summers of 1929, '30, '40 and '41. During the depression, he won a mural commission from the Public Works of Art Project and created easel paintings for the WPA. The total hammer selling price proceeds for this lot benefit the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg, Kansas. Board measures 19.75 x 15.75 with a framed size of 21.75 x 17.5 inches.
