A BORDJALOU KAZAK RUG DATED AH1220/1805AD - The red field with two dark blue and ivory hooked rhombus medallions each with a hooked red centrepiece, diagonal hooked blue vines framing top end hooked ivory spandrels, blue bottom end spandrels, a dark blue inner surround with continuous hooked polychrome medallions, an ivory main border enclosing continuous offset hooked half rhombus medallions, enclosing scattered flora forms, top end dated AH1220/1805AD, a medacyl reciprocal blue and red outer surround. An accomplished work of Bordjalou weaving woven with a varied range of jewel like colours, juxtaposed in such a way as to maximise the visual impact of the composition. The reverse blue and ivory colour placement of the two medallions is a welcome addition ensuring there's nothing static about the design. Measures approximately 73.5 x 60 inches; 6ft.1.5 inches x 5ft; 187 x 153cm.
