The detailed and exceptionally fine example of James' work as a noted watercolorist is signed lower left front. Frederic James was very prolific and accomplished, but this painting stands out for its technique and achieved effects. The dry and weathered house and landscape blend together as one, except for the brightly colored stained glass in the center of the composition.
