Melby (Kansas, 1942-2014) Sky Psalm with Sun of Burning Light The striking rendition of brilliant sunlit atmosphere near the horizon is signed lower right front, titled verso on the frame liner. David Melby was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1942. He earned a BFA from Wichita State University in 1967, followed by an MFA from the University of Nebraska in 1970. He pursued further studies at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel, Mexico. As a working artist, he is most associated with Leavenworth, Kansas where he taught art classes as a a volunteer at the Federal Penitentiary there. Measures 10 x 12 with a framed size of 18.5 x 20.5 inches.
