Miriam McKinnie Hofmeier studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Minneapolis School of Fine Art. She was one of the few women artists involved with the New Deal art projects through the Treasury Section of Fine Arts and completed at least two murals under that Depression era relief program: Harvest was commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts in 1938 for the U.S. Post Office in Marshall, Illinois, and under the Works Progress Administration, T he White Fawn for the U.S. Post Office in Forest Park, Illinois two years later. She also became associated with the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony. Board measures 27.75 x 32 with a framed size of 34 x 38 inches.
