A New Day] 1930 The very rare lithograph from an edition thought to be only 30 prints is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left. An inscription along the lower edge reads 'For Maxine and Bill - Christmas 1935.' The image is pictured on page 78 of the artist's catalog raisonne William J. Dickerson 1904-1972, Lithographs, Block Prints & Etchings by Barbara Thompson, lithograph number 13. It has been pointed out that the planet Pluto was discovered the same year as this print was published. Checking all the major sources for the past 30 years, no record of this print ever having been offered at auction could be found. Image measures 14 x 11.5, sheet is 16 x 11.5, and frame is 21.5 x 17.5 inches. There is a thin central fold line that spans the width, pale toning around the image, brown paper tape upper left and tears there, remnant brown paper tape upper right, scattered light margin smudges as shown outside the frame.
