Charles Banks Wilson (1918-2013) - CHARLES BANKS WILSON (1918-2013) RARE 1939 LITHOGRAPH. Charles Banks Wilson (1918-2013) The New Rich 1939 The outstanding early lithograph, Wilson's second, was published in an edition of only 20 prints and is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left. Wilson's remarks in Hunt's book are: 'It was during and after the Depression of the early thirties that some Indians began to get large royalties. I saw new cars come before new homes, which made sense if you think about it. Some people, not just Indians, pretty much lived in their car while the new house was being built.' This marks the first appearance of this extremely rare lithograph at auction, or having been offered for sale anywhere that we can find. According to all four major art auction record databases and entries on the major online bidding platforms, it has never been up for bid. This may be the only opportunity one has to obtain this important print, particularly in outstanding condition. Image measures 10.5 x 13.25, sheet is 14 x 17.5 inches.
