Robert Sudlow (1920-2010) - ROBERT SUDLOW 1958 WATERCOLOR AND SIGNED LITHOGRAPH. Robert Sudlow (1920-2010) 1958 Two Works by Robert Sudlow: 1. An early wooded landscape watercolor on paper signed lower left and dated 1958. This work was completed while the artist was in his ninth year of teaching at the University of Kansas. Sight size measures 10.75 x 15 with a framed size of 19.25 x 23.25 inches. 2. A hand-colored pencil signed lithograph titled Spring Pioneer Bluff lower left and signed by Robert Sudlow lower right near the date 1982. Image measures 10 x 14.75 with a framed size of 16.5 x 20.5 inches. Robert Sudlow studied under Albert Bloch and Raymond Eastwood, both represented in this sale, at the University of Kansas from 1938 to 1942. After serving in WWII he returned to Lawrence and served as Albert Bloch's teaching assistant at KU. He later took a position as instructor at the University of Kansas in 1947 and continued until his retirement in 1987. During his tenure, he was appointed professor of drawing and painting and was later honored as professor emeritus of art. Measurements are included in the description.
