Kansas artist and Prairie Print Maker William Dickerson had a strong connection to Taos and Santa Fe and the surrounding regions of New Mexico. His initial visit in 1931 was a wedding gift from Ed Davison, a Wichita banker and art patron. This trip sparked a lifelong affinity for the Southwestern landscape resulting in regular visits to the area right up until about the time of this painting.
