The depiction of a mythical peacock-like bird in a whirl with peacock feather eye motifs is signed lower right. Peacocks and peacock feathers are a recurring theme in the art of Arthur Kraft. They appear both expressed and abstracted in several paintings; his 1971 limited edition book Sounds of Fury, reflecting on his five-week stay at St. Joseph State Hospital, features a large, tipped-in peacock feather on page 27; and a Modernist brass rod sculpture titled '' The Peacock '' by him was discovered in the basement of Northland Mall, to name a few.
