The expansive composition portraying a miles-long view of rolling, golden Kansas landscape is signed lower left front and titled by the artist verso.
Robert Sudlow studied under Albert Bloch and Raymond Eastwood, both represented in this sale, at the University of Kansas from 1938 to 1942. After serving in WWII he returned to Lawrence and served as Albert Bloch's teaching assistant at KU. He later took a position as instructor at the University of Kansas in 1947 and continued until his retirement in 1987. During his tenure, he was appointed professor of drawing and painting and was later honored as professor emeritus of art.
