BARRY COFFIN (KANSAS 1947-2016) STONEWARE SCULPTURE - Barry Coffin (Kansas Native American 1947-2016) The abstracted figure depicted in a wearing blanket and buffalo headdress blends the modern and the traditional with its clean lines and cultural headdress in rugged texture. The work is scratch signed along the base. Barry Coffin was a Lawrence, Kansas native of Potawatomi and Creek descent. He attended the University of Kansas and later received his Associate of Fine Arts degree from the Institute of American Indian Art, a public tribal land-grant college in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His work is represented by numerous Santa Fe Galleries and held in the permanent collections of a number of museums. Measures 24.5 x 8 x 7 inches.
