BARRY COFFIN (1947-2016) 37-INCH STONEWARE SCULPTURE - Barry Coffin (Kansas Native American 1947-2016) 1997 The large Modernist depiction of a Hopi katsina with dance rattle and striking three-dimensional male hands is sculpted from stoneware finished in bright colored enamels. The work is signed and dated along the base. Barry Coffin was a Lawrence, Kansas native of Potawatomi and Creek descent. He attended the University of Kansas and later received his Associate of Fine Arts degree from the Institute of American Indian Art, a public tribal land-grant college in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His work is represented by numerous Santa Fe Galleries and held in the permanent collections of a number of museums. Measures 37.5 x 11.25 x 11 inches.
