JAPANESE EDO PERIOD YARI SPEARHEAD WITH LONG TANG - Antique Japanese yari spearhead, Edo period, of straight su-yari form. Forged steel blade of slender symmetrical profile tapering to an acute point, with pronounced medial ridge extending along the blade. The base formed with angular shoulders transitioning to an exceptionally long integral nakago (tang), pierced with a single mekugi-ana for securing the spearhead within its original wooden shaft. The substantial tang, approximately twice the length of the exposed blade, reflects the robust mounting traditionally employed on Japanese polearms. The nakago is unsigned or with no signature presently visible beneath the oxidation. The polished portion of the blade retains a bright surface with scattered oxidation, staining and areas of old surface corrosion, while the tang displays a deep, dark age patina and extensive oxidation consistent with considerable age.
