Early 1500 Koto katana, 27 and 1/2 inch length of cutting edge, exceptional condition blade and mounts. - Koto katana, 27 and 1/2 inch length of cutting edge, exceptional condition blade and mounts.A rare signed Koto. The tang is signed Morihisa in a nice, well-chiseled script and is ubu, orun-shortened. Morihisa was a well-regarded swordsmith of the Bungo Takada school andwas active in the early 1500's. The blade features a well-grained itame hada that mixes withboth a running straight masame hada as well as spots of burl mokume hada. The hamon is anearly Koto style ko-gunome based on suguha that features a thin nioi guchi and smallrounded gunome formations. The samurai style mounts with an exceptional high quality redlacquer with ornate iron furniture, highly customized, with silk ito-wrapped tsuka. The bladeand mounts in mint condition.
