RARE ANTIQUE CONTINENTAL HALBERD POLEARM SPEAR / AXE / GUN COMBINATION WITH IRON POLE - Rare and highly unusual antique Continental European combination weapon incorporating a halberd, spear, axe, and firearm into a single imposing polearm. Entirely constructed of iron and steel, the weapon features a long hollow iron pole serving as the firearm barrel, surmounted by a substantial halberd head. The head combines a broad, dramatically curved crescent-shaped axe blade with a long tapering spear point. The upper section of the spear is finely formed with turned rings and spiral-fluted decoration, adding an attractive decorative element to the otherwise martial construction. Mounted directly to the iron barrel immediately beneath the halberd head is a compact flintlock-type firing mechanism, ingeniously integrating the firearm into the polearm. The muzzle is located at the opposite end of the long tubular iron pole. Combination weapons of this type belong to a fascinating European tradition in which firearms were incorporated into swords, axes, maces, spears and other polearms.
