The lock of fine quality with gilt wheel cover and cast chased, and gilt bronze dog spring retainer, finely engraved dog spring, the dog (cock) engraved throughout with scrolls and smiling monster’s head. The fine light figured walnut fullstock inlaid throughout its length with engraved white stag-horn plaques featuring hares being pursued by hounds the whole enriched by stag horn tendrils. Original patchbox entirely veneered in stag horn and engraved with a proud antlered stag. Ramrod appears original with stag horn finial. This lovely Saxon sporting rifle is in very fine original condition throughout. Total length: 36”.
