Fine Mid-19th Century Spanish Eibar Damascus Barrel Percussion Sporting Rifle with Gold Damascened Lock - A fine mid-19th century Spanish sporting rifle, likely produced in Eibar, featuring an attractive Damascus twist barrel and finely engraved percussion lock enriched with gold damascened (tausia) decoration. The lock is fitted with a distinctive dragon-head hammer, while the rifle retains its elegant walnut half-stock with checkered wrist and fore-end, horn fore-end tip, decorative escutcheon, and carved cheekpiece. The rifle is equipped with double-set triggers for precision shooting and exhibits the refined craftsmanship associated with quality Spanish sporting arms of the period. The beautifully figured Damascus barrel complements the richly decorated lock and furniture, creating an elegant firearm intended for the sporting gentleman.
