Antique Austro-Hungarian Infantry Officer's Saber by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, Germany, with Steel Scabbard - late 19th to early 20th century Austro-Hungarian Infantry Officer's saber manufactured by the renowned Solingen firm Carl Eickhorn. The saber features a straight, pipe-back blade with spear point, retaining a pleasing aged finish with scattered areas of light oxidation consistent with age. The ornate brass hilt is fitted with a pierced and engraved stirrup guard decorated with flowing foliate motifs, terminating in a distinctive forward-swept quillon. The black ribbed grip is secured with twisted brass wire and remains in very good condition. The sword is complete with its original steel scabbard fitted with two suspension rings. Privately purchased officer's swords such as this were produced by leading Solingen makers for officers serving throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Carl Eickhorn was among the finest German sword manufacturers, exporting military edged weapons to numerous European nations during the late Imperial period.
