Although Force originally planned for twenty volumes across six series (from 1493 to 1789), the project was abruptly halted. Peter Force's American Archives: Fifth Series, Volume III (published in January 1853) is an exhaustive compilation of primary sources covering the American Revolution. It features original correspondence, Continental Congress resolutions, and wartime government documents from late 1776.
