18th C. Rapier Sword Presented to Lieut. James Foley - 18th C. Rapier Sword Presented to Lieut. James Foley 1865 American Civil War. With richly gilt brass hilt showing wear, outer cup guard bears presentation inscription to ”1st. Lieutenant James Foley C.o.H. 69th N.Y.S.N.G.A. Feb. 1865” Double edged blade with etched and gilt decorations. Very cool Historic piece, possibly was owned by Foleys father or grandfather and later carried by him during the American Civil War era. Total length 37.5”, length of the blade - 30.5”
