Large Confederate Coffin-handle Bowie Knife, 1861 - Large Confederate Coffin-handle Bowie Knife, 1861 dated, American Civil War.Large example with one piece walnut coffin shape grip and strong steel guard. Wearing a serious long blade with extended false edge area, one side marked with several letters, looks like VG or VC and a date 1861. Heavy patina and moderate pitting overall, and with its large leather scabbard having brass tacks and copper rivets, each with struck letter ”R”. Total length without scabbard - 16.25”, length of the blade - 11.25”
