Rare American Civil War era English Pin-fire Pistol - Rare American Civil War era English Pin-fire Pistol with Large Bowie Knife Bayonet. A rare combination weapon with either English or Belgian pin fire pistol retaining about half of its fine blued finish and showing nice quality engraved decorations, several hallmarks and numbers. The bowie knife bayonet is of English manufacture made for this gun and the whole thing must have been exported to the American market right around the Civil War era. Bowie knife with engraved steel guard and silver scabbard mounts, checkered wood grips matching to the ones on the pistol, lower guard marked 23 as is the gun. With its very strong blade having long false edge, stains of patina and wear overall consistent with the age. Impressive and seldom encountered weapon, possibly taken part in the Civil War, if so, owned by a very wealthy officer of US Army. Total length in scabbard ( when scabbard is present, without scabbard otherwise) - 20.5”, length of the blade - 9.25”.
