He is known for polychrome bronze vessels with botanical subjects, irises above all, in which the flowers, leaves and stems are modelled fully in the round and the surface is finished in bright applied color rather than a conventional patina — the opposite of the usual bronze treatment, and the reason the vases read as objects rather than as sculpture of flowers. He issued them in limited editions over a career of more than three decades.
